Bahareya/Kharga (
05 days )
4 Nights Bahareya –
Farafra – Dakhla and Kharga.
Set in a depression covering over 200 Sq. kilometers. Bahareya is about
200 kms. South-west of
Cairo. It is surrounded by Black Hills made up of ferruginous quartzite
and dolorite. Most of the
Villages and cultivated land here can be viewed from the top of the
50-meter-high Jebel Al-Mi'ysrah
From an
archaeological point of view, little seems to have survived
from the pharaonic period. The
Greco-Roman period on the other hand is represented by one of the most
important discoveries of
the last years, a huge cemetery (about 6 square kilometres) in the area of
el-Bawiti, the capital of
Bahareya. More than one archaeological site is said to have been
discovered by chance after a
donkey stumbled into something, which led to the discovery of an untouched
cemetery dating from
the first and second centuries B.C. The one hundred or so mummies that have been unearthed so
far
are beautifully decorated, some covered with a layer of gold, some wearing painted masks,
some buried in
pottery coffins and some wrapped in linen. Archaeologists excavating there expect
to unearth
over 10,000 mummies.

DAY 01 : BAHARIA OASIS
Start early morning to Bahareya oasis, reach the oasis after about 05
hours driving from Cairo, The Oasis of Bahareya is full of monuments.
AWT has put together a tour including all the best and most interesting
sites of the Oasis, and these are of great quality. First we visit the
little
museum in Bawiti with some fascinating
local finds. Then we will enter
the marvelous and refreshingly original tomb of
Benantui from the
26th dynasty. Next, to the Amasis chapels which are being preserved in
an unusually sympathetic style. After a visit to the
Temple of
Alexander drive to visit the English house, the hot springs and
watch
the sun go down over the salt lake before we return to the hotel.

DAY 02 :
THE GREAT DAY TO THE WHITE DESERT
In the morning drive towards the incredible white desert, on the way
we will stop by the Crystal and Black Mountains
for visit and lunch.
Visit the White Desert & enjoy seeing the beautiful shapes of lime
stone. Overnight camp in the White Desert .

DAY 03 : FARAFRA OASIS -
DAKHLA OASIS
Morning we visit the oasis of Farafra, continue driving to reach Dakhla.
On the way we visit the Picturesque village of El
Qasr (built on
traditional Islamic style), Deir El Hagar
and visit the Roman burial
Ground of Mozawaka then drive to the
painted rock at the yellow
desert to enjoy the camel rock and over night camp.

DAY 04 : KHARGA OASIS
In the morning we drive to reach Kharga oasis and visit the
temple of
Hibis, the Christian tombs of
Bagawat and
then the old town of
Kharga have a lunch in a local restaurant at the oasis after lunch drive
to visit the Nadora fortress area then
back to the Hotel.

DAY 05 :
KHARGA OASIS - LUXOR
After breakfast drive to visit Paris Oasis, Doush temple and drive to
Luxor.
